Downloading unpaid-for music sparks a big debate in the music industry. Is it legal or illegal? Is it moral? Does the fact that the Canadian Government charges a levy on blank CD’s and DVD’s justify the downloads? Does the easier access promote smaller bands and ultimately launch their careers?
Well if you have two factions in the Canadian music industry debating this hot topic, how do you settle it? With a Road Hockey Rumble, of course.
Road Hockey Rumble is a TV show in which the hosts Mark and Calum draft local players on a cross-country road trip and face off in a kick-ass game of road hockey! For the winner, bragging rights and beer…while the loser gets punished for sucking. They have to endure such fun and frivolity as;
- having to ride tied to the hood of a truck while the winning team pelts him with tomatoes
- being spray-painted blue
- forced to become a “Man-Steer.”
- do the “Road Hockey Rumble 100 Yard Dash: naked, of course, from the bar to the car.
- getting their legs waxed
This week the Road Hockey Rumble is in Moose Jaw and the rivalry is between local musicians. One team will be made up of hockey players that love to download and burn music, movies and video games to make up the “Modern Day Bootleggers” while the other team, “Team Ethical” will be made up of players who don’t mind laying down hard earned cash on their entertainment.
